  • Susan A. Buffum '74

    Sue Buffum retired in 2016 after a 22-year career at MetLife where she was a Managing Director responsible for municipal bond investing for the firm. She previously worked for Travelers Insurance for twenty years before joining MetLife in 1994. After graduating from Brown with an AB in Mathematics/Economics, Sue earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut and also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

    Sue currently serves as a Vice President of the Class of 1974 and recently was Reunion and Reunion Gift Committee Co-Chair for her 50th reunion. She also serves on the Brown Annual Fund Leadership Council. She was Co-Chair for her 35th, 40th and 45th Reunion Gift Committees and also participated on her 25th and 30th Reunion Class Gift Committees. She previously served on the President’s Advisory Council on the College supporting Dean Rashid Zia as well as on the Women’s Leadership Council where she chaired the Philanthropy Advisory Group. In October 2006, the Brown Alumni Association honored her with an Alumni Service Award and in 2014 with the Brown Bear Award. In 2024 she was awarded the H. Anthony Ittleson Award by the Brown Annual Fund for her philanthropic volunteerism.

    She currently resides in Sedona, Arizona where she sings in her church choir and serves on the church council as chair of the Finance, Endowment and Administration Ministry. Sue volunteers at the local public library and recently completed her term as President of the Board of Trustees of the Sedona Symphony, where she now serves on the Advisory Board.

     

  • Jason A. DiLullo '93, P'27

    Jason A. DiLullo is president of Qatalyst Partners, a technology-focused  independent strategic advisory firm headquartered in San Francisco and London.  Mr. DiLullo, who became the firm’s president in 2016, was previously head of the  firm’s semiconductor practice. Prior to joining Qatalyst in 2010, Mr. DiLullo was managing director and co-head of technology mergers and acquisitions for the Americas at Credit Suisse. Previously, he held positions at Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley. Mr. DiLullo is on the Advisory Council for Friends of the Children (Bay Area chapter).

  • Christian J. Anthony '96

    Greenwich, CT

    Christian is currently the Co-CEO / Co-Founder of ListenFirst, the leading social media analytics SaaS solution for the world’s largest companies. Christian is a multi-time entrepreneur who has been at the forefront of technology and digital media for over two decades. He co-founded Insound.com and Special Ops Media, and served as CEO of LBi North America. Christian earned his AB in classics from Brown University. He is an active Advisor and Board member, currently serving on the Board of Directors for Venture For America and Civics Unplugged, and as an Advisor with Brown University’s President’s Advisory Council on Entrepreneurship and The Advisory Council on the College. He is a longtime member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) Metro New York Chapter.

  • Chiamaka “Chichi” A. Anyoku '14

    Cambridge, MA

    Chiamaka “Chichi” A. Anyoku, a 2014 Brown graduate, is currently an MBA and MPP candidate at Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School. Previously, she worked on New York Economic Development Corporation's real estate transactions team and A.T. Kearney's management consulting practice. Ms. Anyoku also worked at Cambridge Associates, where she advised universities and foundations with assets ranging from $40 million to over $3 billion. At Brown University, Ms. Anyoku received an AB in Economics and an AB in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. As an alum, she is an alumni interviewer and serves as a member of the GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Participation Council. Ms. Anyoku is a Trustee Emerita of Brown University.

  • Harold Bailey III '03

    Westport, CT

    Harold Bailey III is Head of Sales for Capital Markets Gateway (CMG), a financial technology firm that’s modernizing the Equity Capital Markets by connecting investors and underwriters via an integrated, neutral platform which enhances workflows and delivers market leading data and analytics. He’s currently responsible for formulating and implementing the firm’s strategic growth strategy in North America. Prior to CMG, Harold was a Managing Director and Head of Business Development for Liquidnet’s Research Exchange, a leading procurement platform and marketplace for asset managers to consume research. While at Brown, Harold was a member of the Varsity Basketball team and graduated as a dual major receiving an AB in Economics and History in 2003 and an MBA from Columbia Business School in 2012. He currently serves on the board of the Harlem Lacrosse and Leadership and is actively focused on developing initiatives to connect Brown alumni professionals in the tri-state area.

  • Sloan Lindemann Barnett '89, P'24

    San Francisco, CA

    Sloan Barnett is the author of the NY Times best-selling book: Green Goes with Everything: Simple Steps to a Healthier Life and a Cleaner Planet.  The book outlines how the next wave of green is about the health of our families in addition to the health of our planet. Ms. Barnett has been a television and print journalist for more than fifteen years, appearing on-air as a consumer and green contributor on NBC’s Today Show as well the consumer editor for the NBC affiliate in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She has also appeared twice on The Oprah Winfrey Show, been a legal and consumer expert for Fox, CNN and ABC, and hosted women’s talk shows for Lifetime and Oxygen. Ms. Barnett began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan and went on to write a legal and consumer advice column for the New York Daily News for nearly a decade. She also wrote a legal column for Mirabella Magazine. Ms. Barnett is the chair of The California Pacific Medical Center Board and a member of the Leadership Council of the Harvard School of Public Health. She is also a member of the board of her alma mater, The New York University School of Law.

  • Evelyn Benedict-Vatel '96

    Franklin Lakes, NJ

    Yemi Benedict-Vatel is a non-profit Board Director and philanthropy advisor. She is Vice Chair of the board of the New 42, a leading arts organization in New York City that provides world-class theatre performances, arts education programs, and space for creative communities. Yemi also serves on the Board of Trustees at the 
    Kent Place School in Summit, New Jersey. She also sits on advisory councils at the University of Chicago and Choate Rosemary Hall. Yemi is a former elected Trustee of the Franklin Lakes Board of Education and of the Franklin Lakes Education Foundation. She previously worked in private client philanthropy at J.P. Morgan Chase, where she managed the international grantmaking strategy of several foundations with approximately USD $1.5 billion in assets. Yemi continues to advise blue-chip non-profits operating in the arts, education, and social service sectors.

    At Brown, she serves on the President’s Leadership Council and has served on the President’s Advisory Council for Internships, as co-President of the Brown Club of Northern New Jersey, and chair of the Alumni Schools Committee in Manhattan. Yemi holds an AB with honors in Development Studies from Brown University and an MPhil. in Modern Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Oxford, St. Antony’s College.
     

  • Abigail C. Doft '91 AM'92, P'27

    Abby Doft has over twenty years of entrepreneurial and organizational  management experience, most recently as General Partner of Terra Nova  Advisors and as a consultant to the Healthcare Portfolio of Acumen Fund. This  brought her full circle back to an extensive educational background in emerging market development. She is currently a member of 37 Angels and an active investor. Previously, she was a senior executive at TheStreet.com, where she served as Senior Vice President and General Manager. Prior to TheStreet.com, Abby was one of the earliest employees at Martha Stewart Living. Abby received her MBA from Columbia Business School in 1998. Abby is a trustee of Middlesex School and serves on the boards of Yamba Malawi, American Friends of Bezalel, Stand With Us and Kivunim. Abby lives in Manhattan with her husband, David, and their four children. 

    While at Brown, Abby concentrated in Comparative Third World Development earning both an MA and BA and was a goalie on the Women’s Ice Hockey team. She has previously served on the WLC and as a class officer. She is now on the Board of Brown RISD Hillel.

  • Anthony Cheng '95

    Anthony Cheng is Managing Partner at Anchorvest RE LLC, an alternative asset management firm providing wealth growth and preservation strategies where he focuses on real estate opportunities and advisory services for early to mid-stage ventures. He has over 25 years of operating business experience including founding and taking public an Internet company during the first dot com boom with News Corporation as lead investor, founding and operating a real estate development firm specializing in multifamily housing, and overseeing his family's business which is a Latin America-focused tour and travel wholesaler that has been in business for over 50 years. He is a former McKinsey & Company consultant where he focused on supply chain management and financial institutions.

    At Brown University, Anthony earned a dual AB in biochemistry and economics. He has served as a committee chair for the Brown Alumni Association Board of Governors, Co-President of the Brown Club of Los Angeles, and President of the Asian/Asian American Alumni Alliance (A4). He is a recipient of the Joseph M. Fernandez Alumni Leadership Award. Anthony resides in Los Angeles

    Raj Dhanda is Chief Executive Officer for Black Creek Group, a leading real estate investment management firm. Mr. Dhanda joined the firm in 2016 as President and was named Chief Executive Officer in April 2018. Mr. Dhanda also serves on the Board of Directors for Black Creek Diversified Property Fund Inc. and as Co-President of both Black Creek Diversified Property Fund Inc. and Black Creek Industrial REIT IV Inc. Since joining Black Creek, Mr. Dhanda led the evolution to a one firm brand, as Black Creek Group had previously been recognized by a variety of names including Dividend Capital and Industrial Income Trust. Additionally, since joining, he has overseen more than $3.4 billion of capital raise and over $3.7 billion of acquisitions and developments. In January 2020, under Mr. Dhanda’s leadership, Black Creek closed on the sale of the wholly-owned assets of one of its sponsored real estate funds, Industrial Property Trust Inc., to affiliates of Prologis, Inc. (NYSE: PLD) in a transaction that was valued at approximately $4 billion. The transaction included 236 industrial properties, totaling 37.5 million square feet, across 24 Unites   States markets. Prior to joining Black Creek, Mr. Dhanda spent 26 years at Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS), where he held a variety of leadership roles, including leading key divisions of their institutional and wealth management platforms, Head of Investment Products and Services for their wealth management division, and serving on the Executive and Operating Committees for their wealth management division. Throughout his career at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Dhanda helped develop strategies for changing regulations and technology to advance the company’s wealth management channels.

  • Resa E. Lewiss, M.D. '92

    Resa E. Lewiss, MD is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of  Alabama at Birmingham, TEDMED speaker, founding member of TimesUp  Healthcare, and an award-winning point-of-care ultrasound innovator, educator,  mentor, and healthcare designer.

    She hosts the Academic Emergency Medicine Education & Training podcast, and her own The Visible Voices Podcast, amplifying content in the healthcare, equity, and current trends spaces. Her writing is widely published in medicine and science journals and the popular press. She has written for CNBC, Fast Company, Harvard Business Review, Nature, the Philadelphia Inquirer, MedPage Today, Doximity, and Slate. Her podcast has been featured in the Guardian, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and the Brown Alumni Monthly. She is co-author of the award-winning business self-help book MicroSkills: Small Actions, Big Impact, (HarperCollins 2024).

    Dr. Lewiss earned her MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, served as a NIH Howard Hughes Research Scholar, and completed her residency at BWH/MGH Harvard Emergency Medicine serving as chief resident in her final year.

    A native of Westerly, RI, and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the Class of 1992, she concentrated in Sociology Ethno-racial studies, Dr. Lewiss is a Brown Women's Launch Pad mentor, and served on the Brown University Medical Alumni Association, and the Brown Women’s Leadership Council. She is the recipient of the 2024 Brown Alumni Association Brown Bear Award.

     

  • Hythem T. El-Nazer '00

    Hythem is co-head of TA’s North America Technology Group and focuses on  investments in enterprise software and technology-enabled companies. He is a  member of TA’s Executive, Management, Core Investment and Portfolio  Committees. Hythem serves on the Board of Directors of Advantive, Appfire, Aptean, CSI, Gamma Technologies, Idera, insightsoftware, Kinective, Lumivero, Momentive Software, MRI Software, PDI, Revalize and Sovos. He led or was actively involved in TA’s investments in AboveNet, Accruent, Aicent, Answers, Bomgar, DigiCert, Idea Cellular, Ivanti, MetroPCS Communications, MicroSeismic, Mitratech, TEOCO and WIND TELECOM. Prior to joining TA in 2004, Hythem worked in the U.S. and the Middle East offices of McKinsey & Company and in the Investment Banking Department of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in New York. He received a General Course degree from the London School of Economics, an AB degree in Economics from Brown University and an MBA degree from Columbia Business School.   • Diane M. Elam, Ph.D. AM'84 PhD'88

    Diane Elam is a retired professor whose career has been dedicated to higher education. In her most recent position, she served as Professor of English and Critical and Cultural Theory at Cardiff University, where she also headed the Cultural Criticism program. Earlier in her career, Diane was an associate professor at Indiana University and an assistant professor at Bryn Mawr College and McGill University. Diane is the author of Romancing the Postmodern, Feminism and Deconstruction, and the co-editor of Feminism Beside Itself. In addiion to her role with Brown University, she is a trustee of Kenyon College. Her areas of focus include environmental studies, budgeting and financial resources, and the overall strategic direction of the school. Diane received her AB cum laude in Biology and English from Kenyon College and earned her MA and PhD in English from Brown University.

    Dr. Kathryn Quadracci Flores has been the CEO of QuadMed since January     2020, continuing a legacy deeply rooted in her family’s commitment to revolutionizing health care access. Founded 33 years ago by Kathryn’s father, Harry V. Quadracci, QuadMed was established with the mission of providing Quad/Graphics employees with superior patient-centered health care, while simultaneously driving cost-savings for the company.

    As a physician, Kathryn is passionate about expanding QuadMed’s whole-person model of care to employers nationwide. Kathryn’s favorite part of the job is visiting QuadMed health centers around the country to learn from the people on the front-line delivering care.   • Kenneth Gaw '92

    Hong Kong

    Kenneth co-founded Gaw Capital Partners in 2005, and has been its President and Managing Principal.  Gaw Capital is a uniquely positioned private equity real estate fund management company focusing on selected markets globally.  The firm has raised six commingled funds targeting the Greater China and Asia Pacific region since its inception and manages opportunistic funds in Vietnam and the US along with a Pan-Asia hospitality fund and European hospitality fund.  In addition, the firm also provides services for separate account direct investments globally.  It has raised equity in excess of USD$ 14.2 billion so far and currently commands assets of USD$ 24.8 billion under management. Kenneth joined Pioneer Global Group (224: Hong Kong Exchange) since 1994 and remains to be Managing Director.  Notable transactions under his direction include acquisition and repositioning of Pullman Hotel G Pattaya and Pullman Hotel G Bangkok, Thailand; AIA Tower in Macau; and Global Gateway, 68 Yee Woo Street building, Club Lusitano building, Kowloon City Plaza, and the InterContinental Hotel in Hong Kong. Additionally, Kenneth holds directorship at the Hong Kong Thailand Business Council. Kenneth graduated with a B.Sc degree (Magna Cum Laude) and began his career at Goldman Sachs. 

  • Patricia Gaw '92, P'25

    Patricia (“Patty”) Tung Gaw is a Partner at FERA International, an active apparel company that manufactures and distributes snow and leisure brands Fera and Meister and active lifestyle brand GA1NSCLUB. Residing in Hong Kong, she specializes in product development, with a focus on visual appeal and functional fabrics. Patty honed her consumer-oriented creative skills as a New Media Director for ELLE Greater China and General Manager of Hong Kong ticketing company CityLine. She began her career in corporate finance at Goldman Sachs in New York and Hong Kong.

    Aside from active fashion, Patty is passionate about integrative health and wellness and holds certifications in Nutrition and Health Coaching. She is active in non-profit organizations Splash and InspiringHK Sports Foundation, both of which provide sports training to under resourced communities. 

    Patty earned a Dual AB in International Relations and History from Brown. She is a member of the Board of Councilors at the USC School of Architecture

    Gary Ginsberg is Senior Vice President and Global Head of Communications at SoftBank Group Corp., where he is responsible for leading SoftBank’s corporate communications strategy and overseeing all of the Company’s external and internal global communications functions. Before joining SoftBank, Mr. Ginsberg served as Executive Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Time Warner and as Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Corporate Affairs at News Corp.

  • Abhas Gupta, M.D. '02

    Irvine, CA

    Abhas Gupta is the CEO and Co-Founder of Mabel, a marketing automation platform widely used in the healthcare industry to send direct mail from doctors to their patients. Prior to Mabel, Abhas was a venture capitalist at Mohr Davidow focusing on the digital health, fintech, and automation sectors. He and his wife, Shaily Gupta ’04, live in Irvine, CA with their two young children, Deza and Rexa. Abhas has an M.D. from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and an Sc.B. in Computational Biology from Brown University.

  • Alexander H. Green '99

    Alexander is a director of Berco, a privately held family company which holds commercial property in Bermuda.  Additionally, Berco owns the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club and Viceroy Sugar Beach. He is a director of Misland Capital which manages a global portfolio of property, bonds, public and private equity investments.

    At Brown University, Alexander earned an AB in Economics and Anthropology. He lives with his wife and two children in Bermuda.

  • Holly R. Hagens '93

    San Francisco, CA

    Holly Hagens has been a venture capitalist throughout her career, with a focus on early and growth-stage investments in life science companies. Most recently, she has provided consulting services to early-stage life science companies and venture capital firms through Scout Venture Partners.

    She was previously a Vice President at AEA Investors in New York City, where she co-founded the firm’s life science venture effort. Out of business school, she was awarded a Kaufmann Fellowship, and as a Kauffman fellow, she worked at Domain Ventures in Princeton, New Jersey. Holly began her career at Morgan Stanley and Patricoff Ventures, both in New York City. Over the course of her career, Holly has served on many company and non-profit boards, including San Francisco University High School, Marin Country Day School, and the JCC of San Francisco, and as a board member of several early-stage life science companies. Holly earned her MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. As a Brown alum, she has been a member of the Women’s Leadership Council, the Advisory Council on Athletics, and the President’s Leadership Council. While at Brown, she was a double major in International Relations and Economics and played for the women’s soccer team, winning three Ivy League titles. She currently lives in San Francisco California with her husband, Todd Sisitsky, and her three children, Tyler, Mia and Ethan.

  • Yvette Ma Ho '87, P'22

    Hong Kong

    Yvette Therese Ma is Vice Chairman and council member of Changing Young Lives Foundation, a non-profit institution which serves 23,000 underprivileged young people in Hong Kong and China through educational and developmental programs.  She is also a School Council Member of Diocesan Girls’ School, a council member of the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation, and a member of the Hospital Governing Committee for Tuen Mun Hospital, which provides recommendations and plans to improve service quality for the acute hospital with 1,800 beds.  Ms. Ma is a Trustee of Design Trust, a grant funding platform that aims to actively accelerate creative design initiatives and development of meaningful interdisciplinary design projects in Greater Pearl River Delta Region. Ms. Ma received an AB in Business Economics from Brown University and was conferred Honorary Fellowship by St. Hugh’s College, University of Oxford.

  • Fergal J. Mullen '89, P'22.5, P'24, P'26, P'28

    Fergal Mullen is a Partner with and Co-Founder of Highland Europe.

    Until the formation of Highland Europe, Fergal was a General Partner with Highland  Capital Partners. He launched the firm's Europe investment program from Geneva. He is a former director of Finanzcheck (acquired by Scout24), Wooga (acquired by Playtika), GlassesDirect (acquired by Essilor), PhotoBox (acquired by Exponent & Electra), Privalia (acquired by VentePrivée), Coremetrics (acquired by IBM), Eleven Technology (acquired by Trimble), M7 (acquired by BEA) and VistaPrint (IPO: NASDAQ).

    Before joining Highland, Fergal was a founding partner of RSA Ventures, the corporate venture fund of RSA Security, Inc. Before RSA Ventures, he was a founder and Senior Vice President of Cambridge Technology Partners (NASDAQ: CATP) and a member of the Global Executive Committee of the firm.

    Fergal attended Harvard Business School, where he earned his M.B.A. He also holds a B.S., Electrical Engineering, and a B.A., Business Economics from Brown University. At Brown University, Fergal was a member of the Track & Cross-Country teams. In 1987, Brown finished in the top 10 at the NCAA cross-country championships, a feat which has not been accomplished since. He captained the team in 1988.

    Fergal’s interests include golf, long-distance running, backcountry skiing, biking, hiking, and traditional Irish violin. A native of Dublin, Fergal lives in Geneva with his wife Jane and four children. Fergal is a fanatical Munster and Ireland rugby supporter. He has earned over 300 caps for each team playing scrum-half from his living room or from the stands while cheering on his heroes.

  • Lauren J. Kolodny '08

    Lauren is a co-founder and Managing Partner at Acrew Capital where she invests in fintech. Lauren led the 2016 Series A round in Chime. Other investments include Divvy, Gusto, Lolli, La Haus, Papaya Payments, Pie Insurance, and EvidentID, among others. Previously, Lauren worked in product marketing at Google leading a number of launches for GSuite, including Google Drive. Lauren began her career building tech partnerships for the Clinton Foundation in India. Lauren is a Trustee Emerita at Brown University where she served as the university’s youngest board member. Lauren was featured on the 2021 Forbes Midas Brink List.

    Eiichiro (“Eiich”) Kuwana is President and a Founding Principal of Cook Pine  Capital. As Co-Chief Investment Officer, Eiich oversees the asset allocation and  manager selection processes and has responsibility for investor relations at  Cook Pine Capital. Eiich brings to Cook Pine Capital 40 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to starting Cook Pine Capital, Eiich spent 12 years at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he was a Managing Director and held various senior level management positions within the Investment Management and Equities divisions at Goldman Sachs in both New York and Asia. 

    Eiich and his wife, Yumi, live in Greenwich, CT and are part time residents of Mau’i. They are proud parents of three grown children, who all graduated from Brown University. Eiich received an AB, magna cum laude, and an MBA from Harvard University. Eiich currently serves as the Chair of the Board of The Nature Conservancy, New York, and is Treasurer and Executive Committee member of the US-Japan Council. He is a trustee emeritus of Phillips Exeter Academy and Ihupani (honorary former vice chair) of The Nature Conservancy, Hawai’i.

  • Yumi Mera Kuwana P'19, P'21, P'23

    Yumi Mera Kuwana is an innovator, educator and entrepreneur. She is a Managing Director and a Founding Principal of Cook Pine Capital. Ms. Kuwana has responsibility for business development, office management and finances at Cook Pine Capital. Ms. Kuwana was previously at Giftken.com, the Japanese affiliate of Giftcertificates.com, where she oversaw the business expansion efforts in the Japanese market. Prior to Giftken.com, Ms. Kuwana was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley & Co., where she was a senior member in the institutional research area for Japanese equities. Her major clients included top tier hedge funds and global money management firms. Ms. Kuwana received a BS from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard University. Her interests include spending time with family, empowering women, taking a holistic approach to health, wellness and wealth, and philanthropy. Ms. Kuwana is passionate about nurturing our next generation of ethical leaders and launched Global Citizen Initiative Inc., a youth empowerment social enterprise in 2012. She is on the Board of Councilors at Okinawa Institute of Technology in Japan, co-founder of Greenwich Women’s Roundtable, YWCA Greenwich Brava Award recipient, Forbes Japan Top 55 Women Active with a mission: 2016/2018. Having spent half her life in Japan and half her life in the USA, she can add a unique perspective to issues.

    Liz Lange is an entrepreneur and private investor.  She is the founder of Liz Lange Maternity, Liz Lange for Target and Completely Me by Liz Lange for HSN.  Ms Lange is also the author of "How To Look Fabulous During the Most Fashion-Challenged Time" published by Random House. Ms. Lange was named "one of the most powerful female entrepreneurs in the country" by Time magazine and was a recipient of Crain's 40 under 40, a past Ernst and Young's entrepreneur of the year finalist, and has been profiled in almost every business magazine including the Wall Street journal, the Harvard business review, The New York Times, Fortune, Time and Newsweek. Ms. Lange is an in-demand keynote speaker at business conferences and has appeared on Oprah, CNBC, Fox News, Bloomberg and The View.     Shoukang Lin is the chairman and founding partner of Octo Rivers Asset Management, a Hong Kong based hedge fund. Dr. Lin joined China International Capital Corporation (CICC), China’s largest investment bank in 2000. He was appointed as Member of the Management Committee in 2007. He has held several positions at CICC, including an Executive Director of the Asset Management Department, the Head of the Capital Markets Department, Chief Operating Officer, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Acting Chairman of the Management Committee. Prior to joining CICC, Dr. Lin served as an instructor in mathematics at Xiamen University in China from September 1983 to August 1985 and assistant professor at University of York in Canada from July 1990 to July 1991. He joined the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in August 1991 and held several positions, including economist and desk officer of Malawi of the African Department until June 1996. He served as a senior manager of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority from July 1996 to December 1997, the head of the Greater China Economic Research at Deutsche Bank Hong Kong from January 1998 to May 1999 and deputy director of the international department of China Cinda Asset Management Corporation from May 1999 to October 2000. Mr. Lin obtained a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Xiamen University in July 1983, master’s degree in economics and a doctoral degree in economics from Brown University, in August 1987 and May 1990, respectively.

    Nicola M. Miner is an instructor in Language Arts at City College of San Francisco. Previously, she co-founded and co-owned the Quotidian Gallery, an exhibition space which focused on emerging artists, from 1999 to 2005. Ms. Miner earned an AB in history from Brown, an MS in journalism from Columbia University, and an MA from Mills College. She is a trustee of Earthjustice, an appointed member of the Women's Suffrage Centennial Commission, a former director of the Presidio Trust, and a former trustee of San Francisco University High School, the San Francisco Ballet, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Woodhull Institute.

  • Alina Moran '93

    Alina Moran is President and CEO of Dignity Health – California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC)—the hospital’s first Latina president in its 137-year history. During her tenure, CHMC has achieved national recognition for patient safety;  treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), stroke, pneumonia and heart failure; and multiple accreditations. After relocating from New York to Los Angeles to assume her role in March 2020, Alina steered CHMC through the COVID-19 pandemic, overseeing the care of over 2,000 COVID-positive patients while maintaining critical emergency, trauma, cardiac, and maternal/child services and ensuring the safety of 1,900 employees and 450 medical staff. Alina’s forward-looking vision is evident in her leadership of a $215 million campus expansion opening in 2024 to enhance equitable health care access to the most vulnerable patients, and in programs such as the Hope Street Margolis Family Center, which supports 5,000 low-income children and parents annually with education, literacy, recreation, and wellness services.

    Alina’s deep commitment to health equity and community engagement is rooted in her upbringing as the daughter of Puerto Rican immigrants. She helped establish the Rhode Island Political Action Committee and Brown University Latino Alumni Council, and currently serves as board chair of the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE), and as a board member for the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC) and CORO Southern California. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from Baruch College and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Brown University. Prior to co-founding East End Advisors in 2008, Mr. Salomon was a Partner at Grisanti Brown & Partners, a U.S. long-equity money management firm with approximately $4 billion in assets under management. 

    Mr. Salomon began his career in the advertising and media fields and held senior positions at the Omnicom Group and Time Inc. Mr. Salomon is a graduate of Brown University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 1990. As Customized Energy Solutions’ Vice President of Market Intelligence, José leads CES’s market intelligence services across North America, providing analysis and reports on organized power markets including CAISO and the Western market, SPP, ERCOT, AESO (Alberta), IESO (Ontario), MISO, PJM, NYISO, and ISO-NE. Prior to joining CES, José was a consultant in the New England and New York power markets providing regular monthly and quarterly analyses on power market issues as well as transmission policies.   • Alexandra E. F. Shapiro '94

    Alexandra Shapiro has been a senior leader in the entertainment industry for  over 20 years. Most recently, she served as Executive Vice President, Brand  Marketing & Strategy for Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service where she  helped architect the brand launch. At the helm of the streamer’s Brand and Content marketing practice, Shapiro’s remit included strategy, full-funnel creative services, media, promotions, brand activations, social and cross-company initiatives. Her team was responsible for driving brand awareness and desire across the funnel and Peacock’s world-class content slate, including Originals, Live Sports, Iconic Movies, and Blockbuster Television Series.

    Prior to joining Peacock, Shapiro served as Executive Vice President, Marketing & Digital for USA Network, SYFY, Universal Cable Productions (UCP), and Wilshire Studios, where she led the creative oversight and shaped brand and digital strategy. As a marketing and digital innovator, Shapiro expertly launched the USA Characters Welcome brand that kept the cabler #1 for over a decade, as well as rebranded SYFY to be a genre fan-first platform including the debut of a digital news and editorial destination, SYFY WIRE. She launched and managed both networks' powerful stable of critically acclaimed, award-winning, and popular original series, including Suits, Mr. Robot, The Sinner, Monk, White Collar, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, Psych, Covert Affairs, Battlestar Galactica, The Expanse and The Magicians.

    Shapiro is an avid supporter of the performing arts. She served as a founding board member of Roadworks (a Chicago regional theater company) and Scenarios USA, a national organization that empowered underprivileged youth through writing and filmmaking projects. She was just appointed as a member of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Committee on Modern and Contemporary Art and recently joined the boards of Conquer Cancer, supporting physician-scientists making breakthrough discoveries, and CCAP (Careers Through Culinary Arts Program), which provides job training and apprenticeships in the restaurant and hospitality industries.

    Aysha Shoman is a member of the board of the Khalid Shoman Foundation, which is named for her late father. The Khalid Shoman Foundation is the major patron of Darat al Funun, an Arab arts organization, and also supports endeavors in education and health, such as the Khalid Shoman Nuclear Medicine Department at the King Hussein Cancer Centre in Jordan. She is also a trustee of King’s Academy, a boarding and day school for grades 7-12 based in Jordan. Previously he was a senior vice president at Lehman Brothers and a principal at Ameriquest Capital and FrontLine Capital. Earlier, Daryl worked at Citigroup, American Express, and Corporate Decisions Inc. (now Oliver Wyman). He lives in Connecticut with his wife, Peggy Bell Twitchell ’93, and their son and daughter.

    Over two decades, Daryl has served as class co-president, Reunion Activities Committee member, BAF Class Committee member, 25th Reunion Gift and Participation Committees member, area co-chair of the Alumni Interviewing Program, and on the Association of Class Leaders board. He is currently a member of the BAA Board of Governors, the Advisory Committee on University Resources Management (ACURM), and co-president of the Brown Club of Fairfield County board, on which he has served for 20 years.     Woody was formerly the President and a Board Member of Solidigm, a flash  memory semiconductor company purchased by SK hynix from Intel in 2021.  Previous to that role, he served as a Partner and Chairman of Mergers and  Acquisitions at Perella Weinberg Partners LLC. He has over 30 years of M&A and investment banking experience.

    Prior to joining Perella Weinberg in 2016, Woody was Co-Head of the Global Telecommunications, Media, and Technology group, Vice Chairman of U.S. Investment Banking, and a Managing Director at Lazard. He was previously Global Head of Telecommunications, Media, and Technology at Merrill Lynch.  Prior to joining Merrill Lynch in 2008, Woody spent 14 years at Lehman Brothers, where he served as a Managing Director and Head of the Global Communications group.  He also served for several years on the Executive Committee of the Investment Banking Division, the firm’s Strategy Committee, and as Chairman of the firm’s Senior Client Council. He began his career on Wall Street as a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Department at the First Boston Corporation.

    Woody was selected as a White House Fellow and served as a special assistant to the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, where he concentrated on international affairs from 1991 to 1992. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and served on its Term Membership Committee for more than a decade. He serves on the board of Frontier Communications, a publicly traded telecommunications company.

    He received a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University, a Master’s in International Relations from Cambridge University, and a Master’s in Public and Private Management from the Yale School of Management.
